Weekly Work

This is the schedule of topics and assignments we will cover this semester.  The readings are available HERE

  • Actively participate in our weekly zoom class Wednesday from 9:45-11:15am (link has been emailed to you, and is in our group library, and is also in our Blackboard shell)
  • Read the entire syllabus on this page (or on the google doc linked on that page).
  • Join our CUNY Academic Commons Group by accepting the invitation in your email. Email Dr. Brandle if you have any problems.
  • Accept the invitation to our class calendar that was emailed to you, or access the web version of the class calendar here, or download this file to add the calendar to your phone calendar to get automatic reminders about our class.
  • Read our first announcement.
  • Read through the all of the blog assignment instructions.
  • Read Key Concepts in International Relations
  • Check out the Introduction slides.
  • Complete a slide for Who Is In This Class.
  • Write First Blog Post, setting your goals for the semester, choosing which assignments you’ll do, and making your plan/schedule for how you will do your work each week.

  • Write a mid-semester self-evaluation blog post- where are you so far, compared to your first goal-setting blog post? What do you wish to continue doing, and what do you wish to change to achieve your goal (this might even include setting new goal(s)). You should also grade your first half of blogging, out of 10 possible points.
  • Do the Globalization Photo Essay.
  • Catch up on rest!
  • Catch up on your reading and blogging.
  • Try to knock out some bigger assignments- the Museum Review, UN Tour, and Zombie Pandemic prep would be great ones to do while on break.

  • SDG Infographic assignment due.
  • May 5 is the last day to get a book approved for the book review or a project proposal approved for the Design Your Own Assignment project.
  • Start preparing for the Prepare for the UN Zombie Pandemic Simulation on May 8.
  • Prepare for the UN Zombie Pandemic Simulation on May 8. Make sure your prep documents are posted before class on May 8.
  • Participate actively in the UN Zombie Pandemic Simulation in our zoom class on May 8.
  • Tour the UN assignment due
  • Read Before our class: Human Rights
  • Actively participate in our weekly zoom class Wednesday from 9:45-11:15am
  • Check out the Human Rights slides.
  • Write a blog post relating to this week’s topic.
  • Museum Review assignment due
  • There’s no Wednesday class this week, because Wednesday is Monday. So use this week to catch up on reading and blogging, and try to knock out any big assignments you still have left.
  • Check your total points, and make a plan to finish strong!
  • Read Before our class: Transnational Issues
  • Actively participate in our weekly zoom class Wednesday from 9:45-11:15am

  • Write a blog post relating to this week’s topic.
  • Post your Final Slide
  • Post your Final Slide before the final zoom class.
  • Actively participate in our weekly zoom class Wednesday from 9:45-11:15am
  • Present your Final Slide during the final zoom class.
  • Finish any outstanding assignments.
  • Take the Final Exam from 12:01am June 9 to 11:59pm June 11 (if you’re taking it)
  • Submit all outstanding work by June 11.
  • Write final self-grading assessment blog post, reflecting on your work for the semester, assessing and grading your second half of blogging (out of 10 points) and your class participation (out of 15), totalling up the points you have earned, and assigning yourself the letter grade that goes with your points
  • If you need more time than June 11, email Dr. Brandle and request an INC grade, so you can have extra time to do your best learning.
